Practicing one’s instrument during the week is essential for reinforcing musical concepts learned during lesson time and for growing to become a stronger musician. Obviously, the more time a student works with his or her instrument, the better they will sound and the more fun they will have playing music. In order to help each student succeed to their best ability, students will be asked to write down their weekly assignment on the chart then write down the days and times that they practice. This builds responsibility, discipline, and accountability. It is easier to practice and play an instrument when it is done on a regular schedule. It is more productive to play a little on each day as opposed to cramming it into one or two days for a long period. Students who plan a practice routine with their parents and stick with it generally do well on their instrument. Please work with your child to find a time that fits your schedule. Encourage your child to practice and to play songs for you, friends, and family frequently. Focus on their achievements and improvements. It takes time and patience to learn anything well in life! Every small step is a victory! Music Assignment & Practice Chart
