"I began taking private lessons with Mrs. Johnson when I was in middle school. Before taking lessons with her, I could play a few songs on the flute, namely Mary had a Little Lamb. My technique was horrible but Mrs. Johnson never lacked patience. She faithfully guided me and challenged me to become a better player. She kept me accountable and would encourage me as I met another goal. We worked together for probably about eight years and I can honestly say Mrs. Johnson was more than just a music teacher, she was a friend. She made me into the player I am today. In a world that wants instant results, Mrs. Johnson helped me recognize the value of hard work. I loved my lessons with Mrs. Johnson and I am thankful for her tutelage." - Sarah H.
"Pam has the patience of a saint. My 4 kids all took lessons from Pam for flute sax and piano from 4th grade thru hs. She is a wonderful teacher and I have seen many kids have great success with Pam as an instructor and cheerleader! Couldn't have asked for a better music teacher." - Kathy O.
"In 1997 I decided that I wanted to learn to play the flute. I was 27 and briefly played when I was 9 years old. Through a recommendation of a friend I met Pamela Johnson. I learned the basics and studied with Pamela for a few months but life got in the way and I ended up giving up my lessons. - Fast forward 17 years. I am married, settled into a great life with my husband, dogs, a new graduate degree and an amazing job as a Children’s Librarian. I had many wonderful things in my life but I felt that something was missing and it was the flute. As soon as I realized this gaping hole in my life I abruptly ordered a flute, as I could not locate my old one after many moves, and started looking for a teacher. After all of this time I was fortunate enough to start taking lessons again with Pamela. - Pamela has always been kind and patient with me. As one of her older, maybe the oldest, students she has always welcomed me with a kind heart, encouraging words, and a little push when I need it. My weekly lessons with Pamela are the highlight of my week. Pamela really listens to what I want to play and does everything she can to help me reach my musical goals. In the past 3 years I have been studying with Pamela I have played some of my favorite songs, participated in a PlayIN at the Kimmel Center and performed next to members of the Philadelphia Orchestra!, performed solos, entertained my family during the holidays and even played in an ensemble (my dream). - Needless to say it is never too late. No matter your age or your ability pick up that instrument, give it a try and do it! Young or old, novice or experienced, Pamela Johnson is an amazing music teacher. Her love of her students and music shows in her passion for teaching and her dedication to bringing out the best musician in all of her students." - Angie A.
